Enoteca Sociale

27 Mar

For my Boyfriend’s 27th birthday I took him to Enoteca Sociale. I wanted to go  because of the great reviews,  but I was nervous it wouldn’t live up to the hype. I was also nervous because I often find the menu’s at Italian restaurants to be a bit too predictable.

It is safe to say that Entoca Sociale exceeded both our expectations.

We started off with the Grilled Octopus with pepper tuffo and potato. It truly was one of the most amazing octopus experiences I have ever had. The octopus was so moist and the sauce was so good it should be bottled.

To start we also ordered the Baked Kale with pink lady apples, king oyster mushrooms and farro and pine nuts.

This salad was not the typical salad you would be able to order at an Italian restaurant. It was really innovative and fun to eat. It did taste similar to baked kale chips, but kale chips on steroids with amazing mushrooms. I highly recommend this dish.

Next we had the Gnocchi with tomato, ‘nudja, stracchiatella and basil. I believe this dish is the the main reason why people are raving about Enoteca Sociale. The Gnocchi literally melted in your mouth. Each piece was a treat. Little pillows of heaven.

We also ordered the Whole Roasted Mackerel with lemon, fennel and parsley salad.  I loved how the skin was crispy and the inside was warm and juicy. I love my fish whole.

The birthday cake was a Lemon Olive Oil cake with rosemary ice cream. I ordered this cake because it is not your typical sweet cake, rather it’s made up of savory ingredients like olive oil and rosemary and still turns out to be a great dessert with the right amount of sweetness.
